At the City of Burnaby Volunteer Symposium

This was an incredible moment for us! We want to sincerely thank the City of Burnaby for inviting us to be part of the Parks, Recreation and Culture Volunteer Symposium 2026.

This event brought together Burnaby nonprofit organizations, and society leaders for a day focused on strengthening the sector through learning, collaboration, and practical tools.

What made this opportunity especially meaningful for us at DoGood Funding is that the municipality invested in bringing capacity building support to its entire community!

Our founder, Rohit Mehta led the Funding and Grants Workshop during the symposium.

Rohit’s session focused on giving organizations practical, actionable strategies they can start using right away, including:

• Best revenue generation strategies to build sustainable funding models

• Getting started with grant writing, breaking down the process into simple, manageable steps

• Prospect research methods to help organizations find the right funding opportunities

• Artificial intelligence in grants, and how to use emerging tools to improve efficiency without losing authenticity

The goal was simple: move beyond theory and provide tools that organizations can immediately apply to strengthen their funding efforts.

A Collaborative Approach to Sector Growth

The symposium also featured incredible contributions from Vantage Point and Volunteer Burnaby, who led sessions on board fundamentals and volunteer management.

Together, these sessions highlighted the importance of investing in every aspect of an organization from governance and leadership to funding and operations.

It was inspiring to see a municipality take a holistic approach to supporting its nonprofit and volunteer sector.

We were also excited to give away an annual subscription to the DoGood Grants Database during the event!
